Slang – Cracking.

Meaning – Excellent or impressive. The very best or of high quality. This expression is used to describe just about anything that is really good – a person, a movie, a meal or a game of football.

The modern slang expression lit can be used to describe something that is exciting or excellent. If something is OK or satisfactory we can describe it as tickety-boo (UK slang). We can also use the modern British slang expression dench to describe something awesome.

This is British English slang and it is often used by the younger generation, particularly teenagers and young adults.

Cracking can also be used as an adverb to mean extremely. “I saw a cracking good movie on the telly last night!”

Example:

  • “We went out and watched a movie, then we hit the club until 3 AM. It was a cracking night!”
